They warned the powers that be of its imminence. They pleaded for official preparation of the inevitable. Now speculation has become all too real. Haunting fears have become heart-sinking reality. They told you it would happen. An entire city governed by a single inter-connected piece of software leaves itself massively vulnerable if said software is compromised.¬†Guess what…? The city of Chicago, Illinois has been hacked. Heavens help us all.

This is a creative reimagining of the warning transmitted by DedSec. It seems Ubisoft’s open world surveillance replete action game may go beyond the black and white monotony of Aiden Pierce verse the city’s 5-0. ctOS is the system controlling all of the Chicago infrastructure. It may help cut down traffic congestion and allow first repsonders to arrive on the scene with minimal traffic to slow them down. But if successfully hacked, ctOS could literally place the totality of the Chicago’s network systems in the wrong hands–granting them unimaginable power. As DedSec’s warning go unanswered, hacker Aiden Pierce continues to methodically take over more and more of the great city of Chicago.
