As a dog owner, I freely admit about half the things I buy for my dog I do because it’s generally pretty cute to see her playing with it. Really, a survey of the dog toys at my local pet store seem to indicate that’s the entire appeal for dog owners. So whoever created the Humunga Tongue is an absolute genius.
The design of the toy is pretty simple: On one end, there’s a ball for your dog to grab onto, and sticking out of it is a very long, very large tongue. It’s all one piece of solid rubber, meaning it’s not toxic for your dog and will be fairly tough.
And the result, of course, is that your dog is running around with an enormous tongue sticking out of its face. Seriously, the first time you see it, especially if you own a dog that can barely get her mouth around the ball, you will never, ever, stop laughing. It’s pretty much comedy in the form of a dog toy.
As somebody who bought this thing immediately upon seeing it, I will warn you, though that first of all, the rubber ball is hollow, so if you’ve got a dog who likes to chew on toys, it’s going to get destroyed, even though the ball itself is fairly thick. Secondly, the non-toxic rubber will inevitably start showing wear as your dog picks it up, chews on it, carries it around with his or her teeth, etc. If you’ve got a dog that’s rough on toys, this might not last very long.
On the other hand, again, you will never forget the image of your dog walking around with a massive comedy tongue. That alone is worth the fifteen dollars, especially if you spring it on people.
