As of May 23rd, Samsung had sold more than 10 million Galaxy S4 smartphones. This put the company at a record breaking sales pace for an Android phone, selling one handset every .25 seconds. I know, it’s a figure that is hard to fathom.
And now, according to a few sources – Samsung has yet to make an official announcement – the Korean company has sold 20 million units in just 68 days. By my calculations that’s 3.4 handsets every second since the phone went on sale. Unfortunately, and this is according to The Verge’s projections, this still doesn’t outpace sales of the iPhone 4s or iPhone 5 (further detailed by the below graph).
Nevertheless, this is Samsung’s best selling smartphone, out ranking the Galaxy SII and SIII. Moreover, with the launch of the Nexus Edition of the Samsung S4, sales figures will only get better for the company. Though that particular phone, given its rather steep price point ($700 here in the US) won’t have much of impact on overall numbers compared to carrier sales.
