Just a reminder that NVIDIA’s much anticipated portable gaming rig, the Shield, ships today (7/31). Cost to you is $299. Anyone that preordered the device before today should see their device ship, though I wouldn’t be half surprised if we saw some delays.
The NVIDIA Shield is the company’s newest portable gaming devices. With it you’ll have full access to the Android Play store and be able to play games streamed off of your PC provided you have a PC equipped with a GTX 650 or better video card.
In addition to a full blown gaming controller at the center of the Shield, you’ll also enjoy a 5-inch 720p display, 16GB of storage, Bluetooth, a Pure Android OS, mini-HDMI output, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a set of physical buttons.
We’re hoping to get one of these for review in due time, though there are a number of gaming sites (understandably so) ahead of us in the queue. NVIDIA hasn’t told us how many preorders they’ll be filling, but don’t expect sales to be equatable to the latest generation gaming consoles, which are said to go on sale this holiday.
