Phablets, otherwise known as a smartphone that mated with a tablet, may not be the most popular of devices amongst consumers, but it’s a segment that is rapidly growing. Apple has steered clear of the space – they conceded to the iPad Mini, though – while LG, Samsung and Sony have all seen fit to introduce their own version of the smart device. And now rumor suggests that HTC will be joining the ranks with what is set to be a 6-inch device that is purportedly called the One Max.
The One Max is pegged for a September release date, which coincides with IFA. And if history is any indicator of things to come, Samsung should show off a new version of their Note device at the show.
Mobile Geeks reports that the HTC One Max will sport a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chip with 2GB of RAM, up to 64GB of RAM, and a 3200mAh battery. Screen tech is likely the same as the One, supporting 1080p.
There is no word on if the HTC One Max will support handwriting, but since other Android devices in the segment do, it’s a strong likelihood. Unfortunately, any other details on the rumored device are neither here nor there. Nevertheless, September isn’t far off. Though GTA 5 might be the most hotly anticipated release for that month.
