There are two types of people in this world: Those who are prepared, and those who are not. Those who are prepared tend to keep tools on their keychains, because you never know when you’re going to need a bottle opener. Or a knife. Or a pair of pliers. Or a wrench. And the Guppie Knife actually manages to cater to this unseemly tool lust in an effective way.
It’s called the Guppie because it looks, well, like a fish. That’s because it’s built around an adjustable wrench so you can get a grip on all those nuts in your life. The jaw opens up to a spacious half inch, which is good for a lot of tightening jobs, and honestly, if you need an adjustable wrench on a regular basis, it’s probably for smaller jobs.
On the back ridge is a two inch knife blade, designed to be opened one-handed, and made of carbon steel with a black oxide finish. The “tail” features a slot for screwdriver bits, which are secured to the side with a magnetic carrier that includes an LED light. Finally, you’ve got a carabiner because, really, every tool like this needs to have a carabiner, and it can be used as a bottle opener. Oh, and there’s also a belt clip for more convenience.
If that’s a little much, or if like me you’re concerned about losing the magnetic attachment, there’s also a mini Guppie. The blade is shorter by an inch, and the wrench part only opens to 10mm, but it cleverly hides a Phillips head screwdriver in the jaw and has a flat screwdriver blade in the tail, plus the carabiner clip and a dedicated bottle opener.
In short, if you need a wrench handy, but don’t have a toolbox, the Guppie Knife will suit your needs admirably. It’s currently $25 on Amazon.
