We’ve all had phones die on us throughout the day. Most of us wind up carrying around a charger, or leaving them at certain key locations like our desk at work. Everpurse is hoping to change that by integrating a high-capacity battery and a fashion accessory.

The concept itself is pretty simple; ladies and men secure enough to walk around with a clutch in their hands choose their style, in either fabric or leather, and in colors that range from black to purple to crocodile patterning (as you may have guessed, yours truly is not much of a fashionista). When you want to recharge your phone, you slot it into the charger built into Everpurse, which currently works with later model iPhones and the Galaxy SIII. It has a guidance system that supposedly clicks your phone right into its appointed charging slot and it’ll recharge your phone fully up to twice.

Overnight, you recharge the Everpurse by putting it on top of an inductive charging mat. If nothing else, you’ve got to admire the engineering that goes into creating something like this and limiting the amount of wires. That said, you’ll have to be careful with your purse: According to their FAQ, water damage voids your warranty.

Needless to say, however, there are a few drawbacks, the most basic being… what happens when your bag goes out of style? At $190 a pop to start these aren’t exactly cheap as phone accessories go. Secondly, what if you need more room than a clutch provides? Finally, what happens when the battery buys the farm? Is it swappable?

Of course, fashion costs, we all know that. We’re just looking forward to the inevitable messenger bag for guys with the same technology that carefully avoids comparing it to a purse, even though that’s what everyone is thinking.
