Got $65,000 to kick around? If so you can be the proud owner of this racing simulator from Hammacher (which we first saw last year here).
Beyond packing a 7-million pixel screen that wraps half way around the driver to display the window net, side mirrors, and passing cars – this is what you’d see in your peripheral in real life – this simulator ships with 57 tracks that have been reproduced from three-dimensional laser scans that capture every camber, curve, and pavement crack for a digital reproduction that is accurate to 1/13th of an inch.
Still not enough realism to satiate your downtime? Then try out one of thirty cars that have been digitally recreated using the manufacturer’s CAD data and physics engine. Still not enough? Then how about a real-deal sequential shift transmission - the same one found in real race cars – and a cockpit that reacts to your turns, bumps and crashes.
Unfortunately, you’ll be limited to just the included race game. Moreover, this beast weighs 552lbs and measures 6 1/2′ H x 9′ W x 7 3/4′ D. So make sure you’ve got a man cave with room to spare.
