X360

Microsoft and Time Warner today announced that they soon deliver an app for the Xbox 360 that will allow Xbox Gold Live members the ability to live stream any of the cable company’s 300 channels directly on the console.  Moreover, Xbox 360 gamers be able to change channels using their voice, provided of course they’re the proud owner of Microsoft’s Kinect add-on camera for the system.

In a landmark deal announcement for Xbox 360 and Time Warner Cable customers, we’re excited to share a new partnership that will deliver up to 300 of the most popular live TV channels to Xbox 360 for Xbox Live Gold members…And unlike any other platform, you’ll be able to control your entertainment using your voice via Kinect for Xbox 360.

And although Microsoft hasn’t mentioned when the app will be come available for the Xbox One, it’s safe to assume that it will be ported over to their next-gen console when it releases at the end of this year.  That said, hopefully other cable companies will follow suit, especially since the Xbox One, which has been marketed as the central hub to your living room, lacks the ability to carry a live cable feed via coaxial.

Of note, you’ll need both a paying cable subscription and an Xbox Live Gold membership to use this application.  Unfortunately, Microsoft nor Time Warner has said when the app will launch.
