If you missed it, too bad, because Seiki’s 50-inch 4K TV is no longer selling on Amazon for less than $1,000.  But fear not savvy shoppers, for Seiki just announced that they’ll soon begin selling a 39-inch Ultra HD TV at the end of june for $699.

So to be completely candid, 4k resolution in a set this small will be imperceivable to 99% of people – it just too small to notice a difference between this and a 1080 TV.  Heck the same could be said of the company’s 50-inch TV, though at that size it might start to become a slightly discernible difference.

Nevertheless, Seiki is doing everyone a favor by driving down the perceived value of 4K sets.  Consumer electronics manufactures have a tendency to jack up the price of “new” technology simply because, well, it’s new.  That isn’t to say that all tech is over priced in the beginning, because we all know that R&D costs can be staggering from the get go, and production costs can drop when efficiency kicks in (i.e. the laggards start to buy the product)

Market perception aside, Seiki says this set will be on display at New York’s CE Week Line Shows and Exhibits.  It’s not clear what features it will sport, but according to the company expect at least a 120hz refresh rate, USB input and HDMI 1.4.
