Google Glass might be the next big thing in wearable technology, but the Melon Headband and Mobile App might be as big if the Kickstarter campaign gets funded and catches on. The Melon is supposed to measure your focus and provide you with insight into how your mind works. It tracks your focus during any activity you choose so that you can understand yourself better and learn differently.
Built to be worn while engaging in a variety of different activities – like yoga, painting playing music and more – the headband uses EEG (electroencephalography) to measure your brain activity. The wireless brain-sensing device then uses algorithms to detect your focus and uses that data to provide personalized feedback on how to improve a certain behavior you wish to work on. With the app, simply input tags indicating activity, environment, behavior and more then wear the Melon headband to monitor focus and learn what affects it. The headbands are available in white or black and are insights are provided at the end of sessions and are stored as trends so you can easily track your progress via the app. You’ll also be able to receive personalized tips when your focus dips too low on a certain activity. The early bird special of pledging $79 or more is all gone, but if you pledge $99 or more, you’ll get a headband in the color of your choice. So far, this option already has more than 1,800 backers!
