Ever since their previous release back in 2009, the premium (and very expensive) Alienware gaming laptop line hasn’t had much of a shake-up, short of the removal of a few other laptops of various sizes, such as 11-inch Alienware M11x. For 2013′s E3, Dell has introduced three new powerhouse Alienware gaming laptop, aimed squared at gamers with disposable income to burn.

The 14-inch M14x was updated to the Alienware 14, the 17-inch M17x was updated to the Alienware 17, and finally the largest of the three, the 18-inch M18x refreshed to the Alienware 18.

All the Alienware got a new body update, from the old boring plastic chassis to brand new metal-filled construction, with aluminium lid and a magnesium alloy chassis – giving the new machines a real premium feel (not to mention extra durability). As with all Alienware, there are plenty of LED, now even on the touchpad! (Color zone counts are at ten on the 17 and 18-inch, with the 14-inch receiving 5 zones).

The base model of the Alienware 14 comes with 8GB of RAM and a 750GB HDD. You can opt for a panel upgrade from the standard 1366 x 768 (yep, slightly ridiculous this is standard) to the Full HD 1080p, 300-nit IPS panel for $150 ($135 after coupon). Its a big price jump but given the already premium pricing, this probably won’t phase you too much in terms of sticker shock.

The basic Alienware 17 config comes with a HD+ 900p display panel, but like its little 14-inch brother, you can opt for a highly recommended $150 Full HD panel upgrade. Unlike the 14-inch Alienware 14, it comes stock with a GTX 765M and can be upgraded to the faster GTX 770M. Storage is pretty standard at 750GB, and those needing more performance will probably upgrade to the 64GB mSSD cache setup (for an extra $100).

The biggest Alienware laptop of all comes with a extremely high-end setup, a dual graphics Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M in SLI configuration. For those with a real deep pocket, there’s even a $5,200 Alienware 18 configuration with a high 32GB RAM count and a ONE TERABYTE solid disk drive setup in RAID config. Talk about as much performance as you can packed into a laptop.
