Sony is really taking the road less traveled with their Xperia XR Smartphone. Sony offers the promise of HD video recording while submerged underwater. Yup! The Xperia XR is not just water resistant, it’s full on waterproof. It is IP55 and IP58 compliant, which means you can add “dust-resistant” to its list of irresisitble features. Record videos in 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. It that holds true, that’s impressive tech.
The Xperia ZR makes use of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a 4.6-inch 720p HD capable OptiContrast display. It features a 13mp camera and get this… It has a dedicated camera button. The veritable engine is a Snapdragon quad-core processor clocked at 1.5Ghz, Adreno 320 graphics, 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage capacity with 4.6 accessible to the user. But don’t fret; there’s also a micro SD card slot to expand the storage options.
Sony says the Xperia uses the “highest level of water-resistance for fiming Full HD underwater.” We’ll have to put tha tto the test with some hands-on time. But in the interim, the phone will also Bluetooth 4.0, a large 2300 mAh battery–same as what we have in the HTC One and will ship in four different colors (black, white, pink and mint).
