The folks over at Mountain View released info that it will revamp Google Maps for desktops, while also providing an advance look at the new Android and iOS versions. The mobile versions of Google Maps will feature a more personalized navigation with an all-new rating system and provide offers from merchants like Starbucks for customers to take advantage of. Google also announced the new Experience feature for tablets that will offer interior glances and will also provide info on stuff like hotels, restaurants and shopping.
The new desktop version of Google Maps will now include “immersive imagery,” with the map itself now the user interface that will include Street View and Google Earth. Rather than featuring pins after entering search terms, icons will appear instead that will indicate each type of result. If you click on one will pull up friend’s reviews, Street View and even a 360-degree viewing “see inside” option, with the views thanks to user-submitted photo spheres. To provide more personalization, the map will now analyze the places that you travel, highlight routes and offer suggestions based on spots that you and your friends enjoy the most.
