Working with game developers, software engineers and comic book creators can often lead to some incredibly geeky conversations, like who would win a fight Captain America vs. Wolverine? or Which console stays crunchier in milk, Xbox 360 or PS3? How about the viability of introducing mechanized exosuits or “mechs” in modern combat. Sure most of those sound like thought-provoking and inspiring topics of conversation, the latter one is hardly the most far-fetched. Armies around the world would and often do pay big for research such research.

Matt Denton is not a man of military or a defense contractor. He’s special effects genius and mad inventor who has made some great inventions for TV series and movies. But now it’s time for Denton to put that know into something less fanciful, yet utterly terrifying. I give you the Turbo Diesel Hexapod Walking Machine – MANTIS. The thing uses hydraulics to move the legs. Plus the entire monstrosity can be driven or controlled remotely via WiFi. It is powered by a 2.2 litre Turbo Diesel and stands 2.8m high.
