We all know that drinking and driving, otherwise known as driving under the influence of alcohol, in most civilized parts of the world is a big no-no.  Here in the US each state’s limit varies, but to play it safe, it’s best just not drink if you’re driving, or not drive if you’re drinking.  However, if you can’t subscribe to the aforementioned two, it’s best that you invest in a portable breathalyzer.  And none are probably as well suited as the BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer.

ThinkGeek sells it for a very reasonable $149.99.  Unlike other portable breathalyzers this one can not only read your BAC, blood alcohol content, with what is said to be exceptional accuracy, but it can transmit the results to a connected iPhone.  Once the accompanying iPhone app scoops up the results it can tell you when you’ll reach sobriety, something they’ve dubbed “zeroline” technology.

Your BAC results can also be shared easily with friends, or your designated driver, as well as the BACtrack community of users.  And if you so care, you can take pics and keep a running history of drinks consumed, which might help you determine if you’re an alcoholic, or have a penchant for unsavory drinks.

Just remember, if you get pulled over that this data could very well be used against you in a court of law.  So make sure to password protect your phone.
