Skin cancer is seriously no joke. Too much exposure to the sun’s UV rays can cause more harm than good, which is why it’s always good to apply some sunblock lotion daily. But sometimes when you’re on vacation somewhere warm and tropical, it’s easy to forget the need for lots of sunscreen. This is where the UVeBand comes in very handy. The Kickstarter campaign is a wristband that monitors your actual exposure to the sun’s UV rays and will vibrate when it’s time to reapply sunscreen, making it a no brainer when your brain is on vacation mode.
All you have to do is put the band on once you’ve applied sunscreen and it monitors your actual UV exposure before alerting you when it’s time to reapply more sunscreen. Its Ultra-Violet (UV) monitoring technology has been designed to harvest energy directly from the sun so that UVeBand is self-powering and reusable. The technology is sealed in a contoured water resistant casing and is hidden on the underside of the band for further protection. Contact with your wrist when you wear UVeBand acts as a switch, activating the monitoring technology without pressing any buttons. Take off the UV wristband and the monitoring technology switches off and resets itself. But remember not to hide UVeBand under long sleeves where it cannot detect UV conditions directly! You can also choose between a number of wristband colors so that it matches your favorite swim suit!
