Serbian Home Balances on a Rock For 45 Years (video)
Can you believe that for the past 45 years, this little home has actually held its own against the Serbian winds, water, and weather that surround it? Pretty remarkable if you ask us since the tiny home balances on a rock in the middle of the Drina River. The structure is located near the town of Bajina Basta, Serbia, and has become quite the attraction for visitors to the area wanting a peek at the little house out on a rock in the middle of the river.
So the story of the house goes back to 1968 when the thought came to a group of a young swimmers who were looking for a place to rest. They decided to try out the rock in the middle of the river, but after a while, they wanted a more comfy spot and started placing boards to lay on top of the rock. They then just kept building up until the next year, when one of the swimmers turned the rough idea into an actual construction project of this one-room home. Over the years, the home has withstood the forces of nature and multiple floods, including the powerful flooding seen in the video below.
