Hey look, someone is helping Ouya get in motion. No, not financially and euphemistically “in motion”… I know it’s been successfully crowd funded on Kickstarter and is actually coming to a store near you in a just a few weeks. I’m talking about forward thinking and opportunistic Nudroid, a company developing software that can detect, track and translate movement into input commands for Ouya games.
The company has developed a piece of software that uses a skeletal tracking system to recognize gestures in 3D space. It’ s very similar to Kinect, yet this tech is made to play nice with ARM, Android and other platforms pending successful business development on Nudroid’s part. They are actively seeking partners for which they can insert this new software. There was talk of even using your android phone as a sword or presumably implements for other sports too, such as a bat or tennis racket.
Games are not the company’s sole focus. Nudroid hopes to slap this tech in other more standard household devices like Smart Home devices and Smart TVs where your Android mobile phone or tablet could be transformed into a working universal remote.
