MERCEDES-BENZ G63 AMG 6×6
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Wagon has always been popular for it military ruggedness presented in luxury style, but now they’ve added another axle to one of its leading SUVs. The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 sports a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and is based on the military vehicle, or batch of six-wheeled trucks, that were created for the Australian army, with the civilian version of the 6×6 getting all the luxury amenities that usually is featured on the regular G-Class models. It features a leather-filled cabin that seats four and a pickup bed that’s lined in bamboo. While the Australian army has to make do with a 3.0-liter diesel V6 and five-speed automatic transmission, this 6×6 version is more refined and powerful than their vehicles, with its 5.5-liter V8 pushing out 536 ponies and 560 pound-feet of torque, while being hooked up to a 7G-tronic seven-speed automatic transmission. But being an off-road vehicle, it’s hooked up with low range gearing and five differential locks that can keep all six wheels turning at the same speed with the push of a button, as well as a tire pressure control system for the huge 37-inch wheels. Mercedes-Benz plans to put this G-Class beast into production at its Magna Steyr plant in Graz Austria, with only about 20 to 30 of these monsters built each year. They’ll also carry a hefty price tag of about $457,000.
