Download 700 Comic Books from Marvel Right Now For FREE (update)
Update: Marvel has called off the promo due to overwhelming demand – it crashed the provider’s servers. However, you can sign up by email to join the promo – at a later time - here.
In what I have to agree is an unprecedented move, Marvel Comics is now offering seven hundred #1 issues completely free to download via their the Marvel Comics app and Marvel Comics Digital Comics Shop. The promotion, called Marvel #1, ends Tuesday, March 12th at 11pm EST. So you best get downloading.
Week in and week out we ask fans to come check out our new releases—both in print and digitally—with the promise that we’ll bring them the best comics made by the best talent and managed by the best editorial team in the industry. Now, existing and new fans [alike] can discover the heroes they know and love and learn about new ones all at the same time
This promotion comes on the heels of their Marvel Unlimited app, which launched late last week. Unfortunately, that app didn’t receive rave reviews from CNET due to its poor and clunky UI. Nevertheless, it’s a step in the right direction, though a few more are needed to make it truly useable.
On a more positive note, you’ll be able to download all 700 comics – if time, space, and bandwidth allows – and keep them until you’re ready to read them. Word is that the apps are currently getting slammed, so there is a strong likelihood you might have to wait in a virtual line, or you’ll experience very slow download times.
I’m was a big Spiderman and Captain America fan when I was a kid. So there is a strong likelihood I’ll download these later tonight.
