Satisfying one’s curiosity is generally a simple feat. However, satiating one’s desire to see what happens when you place a red-hot ball of metal on a giant cube of ice usually isn’t a quick visit to your underground lab. Unless of course you’re YouTuber Carsandwater.
As requested by a commenter, Carsandwater placed a nickel ball in the path of an intensely hot flame until it glowed red hot with anger. He then proceeded to drop it into a big block of ice that appears to measure about 4-6 inches thick and 12 inches tall.
The result? The ultra hot ball quickly burrows its way into the ice. Surprisingly it didn’t contain enough energy to cut the frozen block of water into two . Instead, the ball of nickel stops short with a few inches of ice left.
Ah, the wonderment of thermodynamics and more time than one knows what to do with on a Friday afternoon.
