Suck it GoPro: Video Head Camera Helmets Boast a Built-in HD Camera (video)
You worry about your kids. It’s a natural concern. But all parents know that they’ll have to fight tooth and nail to motivate them to wear protective gear when they’re skateboarding. And good luck citing the good old head injury statistic, as youth knows only immortality. And that’s what makes these Video Head Camera Helmets so brilliant.
Built-in to the helmet is a video camera that can record all the action as your skateboarding son or daughter sees it. First hand recordings can come cheap, provided you opt for the $55 model, though it comes with a significant caveat; low-res 30 fps VGA. In today’s world of all things HD, and big screen flat TVs, that will hardly be the motivation your kid will need to strap on this protective layer, that’s why you’ll want to opt for at least the 720p version, which costs $120. Or if you feel like throwing down, you can nab the 60fps 1080p Video Head camera helmet for $200.
Needless to say, all of the Video Head Camera Helmets come with the same layer of protection regardless of what model of camera you choose. It’s not evident how long the rechargeable battery will last, but it would seem it can be charged via micro-USB, which also serves as a port for transferring video to a computer. I’d like to see a wireless version that connects directly to a smartphone, and then they’ll really give GoPro a run for their money.
