Mophie is pretty much the gold standard when it comes to iPhone battery packs. Just a few weeks ago the company finally announced their battery case for the iPhone 5, the Juice Pack Helium. It sells for $80 and is shipping to consumers already – I already got mine, though a review unit.
The Helium boasts 1,500mAh of juice, enough to almost charge your iPhone 5 twice over before you have to plug it back in. For some, though, that’s simply not enough. So, today Mophie announced the Juice Pack Air for the iPhone 5. It costs $20 more than the Helium, but includes 200mAh of power, which might be the difference some need to squeeze in that last call or email before their iPhone 5 dies.
Comparatively speaking the Juice Pack Air and the Helium are very similar looking, though the Air features pass-through button – the Helium has a slightly awkward cut out. Rightfully the Air weighs 2.68oz, .24oz more than the Helium. Size wise the Air is also fatter all around (2.60 in x 5.54 in x 0.63 in versus 2.49 in x 5.49 in x 0.59 in). Both cases feature a very recessed headphone port. So if you’ve got a fat headphone cord you’ll need to use Mophie’s included attachment.
The Mophie Juice Pack Air for the iPhone is available today in red, black or white for $99.95.
