The first Fast and the Furious film, while far from a film masterpiece, was an elating piece of Hollywood bubble gum that offered a bit more flavor and texture than other films of the same ilk. It’s just too bad its sequels were anything but, though I did rather enjoy the one that took place in Japan.
Coming back to the big screen this May (the 27th to be exact) is “Fast and Furious 6″. It would seem that they’ve dumped the title variations that long hunted the series, and needless to say gone with a straight shot – probably for branding as this film includes Vin Diesel, the Rock, and Paul Walker. The cast is also joined by Michelle Rodriguez, as well as Jordanna Brewster, though the latter isn’t featured in the above trailer.
Fast and the Furious 6 is directed by Justin Lin who is set to exec produce a new “Highlander” movie, and directed the first and fifth Fast and the Furious films. Agent Hobbs, played by “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson, enlists the help of Dom (Vin Diesel) and his cronies to take down a rival squad of fast car driving robbers. Originality, at least in terms of story line are not the focal point of this film, though the action seems like it once again might be relatively impressive, even if it is all eye candy. As always, The Rock looks excessively jacked, though I’ve been told he is anything but in person. And per usual, Vin Diesel’s character is excessively coy.
As mentioned, “Fast and Furious 6″ releases on May 27th.
