2014 Volkswagen XL1 Hybrid Achieves 261MPG
Volkswagen’s designs are becoming very futuristic as seen with their 2014 XL1 Hybrid, which also boasts better fuel economy, in addition to its good looks. The exterior borrows some design cues from the Audi R8, while still maintaining a typical hybrid feel to it.
But fuel saving technology is the main focus to the hybrid, which features a 27-hp electric motor that’s paired with a 47-hp two-cylinder engine. And while those numbers are pretty weak and not anywhere impressive, they hybrid is about saving on the gas bill, which you know can be very high at times. It has a 0 to 60 mph time of 12. 1 seconds BUT can get you 261 miles to the gallon. While it’s not designed for the automotive performance enthusiast, it will make a great daily driver for that horrible commute. VW hasn’t released info on a price yet, but we can imagine that they’ll keep it reasonable.
