The ink isn’t even dry on our Sony VAIO S15 laptop review and here we are biting our nails in anticipation over the next installment to the brand, now celebrating its 15th year in existence. We already knew Sony was planning to refresh the VAIO line with the new T15 and T14 Ultrabook entries. But what has gone unanswered are the specs and tech innards stuffed into this new VAIO line.
Many are speculating Intel’s upcoming Haswell chipset will be the heart of the new T14 and T15. In fact this was all but confirmed as such if the press are to be believed (oh you will believe!). It turns out we all had it wrong. But who knew. The official press release told little and less.
The Sony VAIO T14 and T15 will be hitting Japan first, then us Yanks come this Spring 2013. The T14 is refreshed with an optional touchscreen while the T series 15 retains its gorgeous 1080p HD display while adding touch with Windows 8 lives tiles, to the mix. More specific specs are available but only confirmed for the Japanese release. These are 2Ghz Intel i7 (current gen, not Haswell), Blu-Ray optical drive, 1 tb hybrid storage for the T15. The T Series 14 will enjoy a 1.8ghz Core i5, DVD optical drive, and a max 750GB hybrid hard drive.
The new touch enabled VAIO T Series 14 and T Series 15 will be available in Spring for about $800 and $950 at Sony retail stores
