If you’ve got an extra $38,000 lying around, we’ve got a TV for you!
At CES last week, Samsung unveiled a giant 85-inch S9 Ultra HDTV that’s currently available for pre-order in Korea. There’s no word on when it will be available in the United States (or how much it would cost here), but the first 77 models up for pre-order will run you 40,000,000 won, or $37,877 US. What a deal!
Samsung’s S9, which the company says is “representing the future of home entertainment viewing”, also features built-in 2.2 channel speakers, quad-core processor, 4k resolution and a Precision Black Pro LCD panel with a high-contrast ratio and brilliant colors. The TV’s 85-inch display is an inch larger than Sony’s and LG’s Ultra HDTVs on the market – but if an 85-inch TV sounds too tiny for you, just wait until later this year, when 95- and 110-inch models will be available.
The S9 is designed like a stand-up easel, which can limit your decorating options – but we’re betting that if you can afford a $38,000 TV, you probably also have a large room in which to put it. Wall-mounting is an option, but it should be noted that the TV’s 2.2 channel audio is built into its “timeless gallery” frame.
