A 1st Seargent fresh out of two tours in ‘Nam, my father’s first order of business was to really “Live”. I wasn’t there to experience it first hand, but family testimony and old Polaroids tell the tale of the grunt turned bar owner. Owning a local watering hole brought–yes you guessed it–a blinding silver 1970 Corvette Stingray C3–among other things. Some of my fondest memories of the Midwest are a menagerie of urban and rural musings. I spent some weekends on a farm in Michigan other weekends my Dad would sometimes take us on long drives from South Bend to Chicago to visit family. The drive was uncomfortable, the seats were hard, the 8-track was blaring, the speed limit was a memory forgotten and I had a giant ear-to-ear grin the whole ride. I swear, will never forget that car.
The Stingray name is timeless–held in lofty, near-mythical esteem and Chevy is bringing back the classic. No way to mince words on that. Introducing the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The new Corvette Stingray pushes the boundaries of craftsmanship and elegance for a standard corvette. We have a burly 6.2L V8 engine capable of 450 horsepower and 450ft pounds of torque. With that you can expect to achieve 60mph in under 4 seconds. The exterior styling and new design is stunning. The attention to quality and performance continues within, with a cockpit that looks like it was plucked from a modern day sci-fi film.
