JJ Abrams is an exceptional film maker. However, I can’t help but notice that most of his films involve destroying – and this is an understatement – rather large objects. Explosions are of course a biproduct, and this trailer for the newest Star Trek film, “Into Darkness”, is no such exception.
So to be factual, this is actually a teaser of the film, which arrives in US theaters on May 17th, 2013. Expect a full trailer to be released in the coming week or weeks, which will hopefully reveal some additional details. As with the last film, Chris Pine (James T. Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), and Zoe Saldana (Nyota Uhura) continue to be sustaining characters, along with Bones, played by Karl Urban, and Scotty (Simon Pegg).
It’s not definitive, but the evil doer in this film will be the character known as Khan, played by Benedict Cumberbatch. So perhaps expect a similar story line to Stark Trek II, which stared the original James T. Kirk, William Shatner. In fact, the Japanese trailer of “Into Darkness” pulls a scene from the original film – Kirk and him touch hands through a glass partition – in which Spock exposes himself to a lethal dose of radiation to save the crew.
