When it comes to shoes, the lighter the better.  Case in point Nike’s Flyknit running shoes, and their not long ago announced all new 2013 Nike Air Max+ sneaker.  Entering the fray, and appealing to the basketball minded demo, is the just announced KOBE 8 SYSTEM.

In a men’s size 9 they weigh a mere 9.6oz, Kobe’s lightest and lowest performance basketball shoe to date.  Aside from Kobe inspired Black Mamba black and yellow snake print found on the KOBE 8 shoes, Nike has incorporated their Engineered Mesh.  The result is a shoes that is 90% mesh that provides “360 degrees of breathability and tightly woven for strength and flexibility to bend naturally with the foot.”  They’ve also inserted no-sew, synthetic overlays on the toe and lateral quarter panel, which is said to provide additional support for even the toughest of b-ballers.  The bottom line is that these sneakers are designed to fit your foot like a glove, and mimic the “natural biomechanics” of your feet.

The KOBE 8 SYSTEM sneakers with the black/sulfur color will hit stores on December 20th.  Expect the  python-inspired color to launch in the US on February 2nd, 2013.
