I hardly use ever use the word epic to describe a movie, but the next Superman film is shaping up to be just that, or at least one could hope. The last iteration by Bryan Singer was an utter disappointment and left a pretty bitter taste in my mouth. I can only hope that this version, “The Man of Steel“, directed by Zack Snyder of “300” fame and produced by Chris Nolan, is a vast departure from all previous films.
Aside from the fact that it’s pretty ludicrous that no one recognizes Clark as Superman, the film looks to be on par with the reboot of the last Star Trek movie by JJ Abrams. Visually it appears to be a true stunner with massive explosions mixed with emotional duality. And finally we’ve got a Superman whose human physique is more inline with the character – take a look at “Immortals” and you’ll see what I mean. Rounding out the cast is Amy Adams and Kevin Costner, who plays Louis Lane and Clark’s father, respectively.
Anyway, until June 14th 2013 I’ll be holding my breath and managing my expectations. Until then, hit the above “Man of Steel” trailer.
