Click and Grow: Automatically Grow Herbs in Your Home, Just Add Water
Farming used to make up a large portion of our workforce. No more, and as a result most people struggle to keep a plant alive as their focus is too often on their digital life.
The Click and Grow smartpots negates all of the guess work and most of the maintenance out of harvesting a very small crop of tomatoes, or simply keeping a plant alive and green. Just insert batteries, add water, and insert a plant cartridge and the electronically controlled and self monitored system does everything for you. Of course you’ll need to add water, albeit periodically as the Click and Grow serves as a water reservoir, as well as change the batteries (once a year) when they run low on juice.
To get started you just add the batteries, insert the cartridge of your choice (basil, chilli peppers, flowers, tomatoes, and more), add water, place it in a well lit place, and within 1-2 weeks your harvest will begin to blossom. When the Smartpot requires water a blue light will blink, and if new batteries are warranted a red light will blink. Conversely, if everything is good to go, a green light will blink. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any smartphone connectivity, though I don’t see why that couldn’t happen in the future through another product iteration.
A Click and Grow starter kit, with one plant or herb, starts at $60. Refills are $20 each. I’m not crazy about the planters aesthetics, but each to their own.
