Technology and water don’t mix, especially when it comes to phones. Yet, there are some adventurous few who like to live on the edge and take their phones with them everywhere…including in the water. While most of us want at least want protection from spills and accidents, these cases are meant to protect iPhone 5 smartphones from a flood or a long swim in the pool when you’re waiting for that very important phone call and can’t bare to leave it on a chair.

10. Amphibx Fit Waterproof Armband for Smartphones

Well not entirely a case, it still protects your iPhone 5 from water when you’re out and about, wither working out or paddle boarding. Thanks to precision engineering of the patented LatchTight locking closure and SealTight headphone connector, your phone is secured and sealed up to 12ft/3.6m underwater. And the breathable Velcro strap and the StableFit buoy creates a comfortable and secure fit in or out of the water. This case sits slightly off the arm with minimal skin contact, allowing for air circulation without compromising fit during activity and runs for $59.99.

9. Liquipel Coating

This is more like a protective skin that’s available for a variety of smartphones, including the iPhone 5. Liquipel came up with a revolutionary process that applies a watersafe coating to your electronic devices to protect them in the event of accidental exposure to liquids. It is not visible to the human eye and virtually undetectable, you’ll forget it’s even there. It’s basically a Nano-Coating that is applied though a propriety process that starts by placing devices into the chamber of the Liquipel Machine that removes the air inside the chamber to create a vacuum and their special Liquipel formula is introduced in vapor form. The Liquipel coating permeates the entire device and bonds to it on a molecular level leaving it watersafe for years to come. You have to ship your phone out to them and prices start at $59 and go up if you apply Gadget Film, Priority Liquipel or both for $89 (plus shipping to them and back).

8. BeachBuoy iPhone 5 Waterproof Case

It’s really not a traditional case, but a protective floating device for you phone. For $19.95, the BeachBuoy uses a simple (but really effective) grip seal system to make it waterproof. While protected, the phone’s touchscreen and other features remain fully usable underwater. The case has four eyelets and a lanyard which allow you to attach your BeachBuoy to the nearest lounger or hang it around your neck.

7. Case Marine Waterproof Cover (Bumper) for iPhone 5

This is more like a waterproof bumper than a case, yet is still supposed to protect your phone against water (and sand, snow and much more). The protective skin is ultra thin and made from double layered thermoplastic polyurethane, making it the only protective skin that is 98% transparent. All the phone’ functions remain fully functional and it’s the only waterproof skin to have insurance if the phone malfunctions, so it’s worth a try for 45 euros or about $60.
