Apple’s iOS maps aren’t that bad, right? At the end of the day most of us can get from point A to point B. Though, come to think of it, it does lack the mass transit info so many city dwellers depend on, along with turn-by-turn directions that have been known to place iPhone owners a mile or two off course. These are all compromises that have forced many iOS owners to remain on version 5 of the software and all together put off their purchase of the long awaited iPhone 5. However, there may soon be relief.
According to the WSJ, Google is currently testing the final iterations of their native iOS map app, which is said to include all of the aforementioned features minus any hiccups and tom foolery. Apparently, the search giant hasn’t submitted the app for approval just yet as they’re still putting the finishing touches on it and performing real world tests with Google employees. Nevertheless, when Google Maps for iOS 6 does officially launch, we’re confident we’ll hear a rather loud and collective sigh of relief across the globe.
