NVIDIA releases new graphics firmware, improves performance in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Assassin’s Creed 3

AC 3 Graphics Firmware 650x295 NVIDIA releases new graphics firmware, improves performance in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Assassins Creed 3

NVIDIA today released a beta update to firmware for all of the company’s graphics cards. The new drivers — Beta 310.54, available for download here — are listed to improve the performance of games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Assassin’s Creed 3 by 26% and 18%, respectively. Black Ops 2 will release tonight at midnight; Assassin’s Creed 3 is already available for PC.

The drivers, which are still in beta, are discussed fully at NVIDIA’s blog by Chris Daniel. The most current standard release of NVIDIA’s drivers is 306.97, which released back on Oct. 10. Gamers are typically told to only download beta drivers with stable computers so not to disrupt their systems and potentially damage them. We will update when NVIDIA responds regarding a release date for full, stable drivers.

We caution users who are interested in downloading the latest beta drivers. If game and general performance drops suddenly, download the last firmware that worked for your computer without hurting performance and reinstall it over the newer drivers. That will reinstate the older software and return your computer to previous performance levels.

Spawned in the horrendous heat of a Los Angeles winter, James was born with an incessant need to press buttons. Whether it was the car radio, doorbells on Halloween or lights at other people’s houses, James pushed, pressed and prodded every button he ever saw. No elevator was left unscathed, no building intercom was left un-rung, and no person he’s known has been left un-annoyed. They call it ‘pushing their buttons’ for a reason.
