Kepler Motors’ Motion Hybrid Supercar (video)
Kepler Motors might not be a huge name yet, but their first hybrid supercar, the Motion Hybrid, might change all that! First unveiled in 2009, they’ve been working on their super-lightweight hybrid super car for the past three years under the radar and they’ve just recently released info and video on what their seek hybrid can do.
Like other hybrids, the Motion combines a traditional mid-mounted, rear-wheel drive gas-powered engine with an all-electric front axle. For the Motion, front-wheel power is provide by twin electric motors that the company says produces a total of 250 hp or around 186 Killowatts. A Ford-build 3.5-liter, twin-turbo EcoBoost V5 engine powers the rear wheels and pushes out 550 hp. Keppler claims a 0-60 mph time of a mere 2.5 seconds with a top speed being listed as more than 200 mph. The Kepler Motion is primarily operated to be a hybrid since its lithium-ion batter pack can’t sustain it to run in all-electric mode.
In terms of styling, the Motion looks sleek and sexy as a supercar should with wide arched wheel walls, a long sweeping windshield and a low rear spoiler. Lots of carbon fiber was used in the car to provide it with lightweight capabilities. Kepler will only make 50 cars with no official price figures amount, but it’ll probably be available to only those with large enough bank accounts.
