HTC DROID DNA Price and Ship Date Announced, Coming Nov. 13th for $200
Yesterday, AT&T announced that they’ll start shipping the One X+ to customers as soon as November 16th, with preorders starting on November 13th. But before you head to big blue, you might be interested to learn that VZW, as in Verizon Wireless, has just received HTC’s newest flagship phone, the DROID DNA.
On specs alone, the DROID DNA appears to be a the complete package. Nevertheless, it’s boardering on phablet territory as it sports a 5-inch Super LCD 3 display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection that can display at a full 1080. That boils down to 440 pixels per inch, placing HTC at the top of the pixel density battle.
Unfortunately, it will only ship with Android 4.1.1, which is too bad as the Nexus 4 will ship very soon with Android 4.2. No matter, though, as things will be super zippy thanks to a quad-core 1.5Ghz Snapdragon processor, which mind you should put it on par with the Nexus 4′s performance. There is also 2GB of RAM, and HTC’s Sense 4+ (the One X+ was the first to receive this).
In terms of camera, we’re looking at an 8-megapixel f/2.0 28mm wide-angle lens, 5-level automatic flash, backside illuminated sensor with super fast autofocus paired with a 2.1MP f/2.0, 88-degree, ultra-wide angle, front-facing camera for capturing self portraits. Needless to say, everything can be recorded in full HD video.
Building upon the Beats audio experience, HTC has included a 2.55-volt headphone amplifier and a dedicated amp for the external rear speakers. It’s hard to say how good it will actually sound in real world testing, but so far that spec set sounds pretty interesting. Lastly, all of this is powered by a 2,020mAh battery, though with a 5-inch screen and a quad-core processor, we wouldn’t be surprised if you have to charge the DROID DNA on the daily.
The HTC DROID DNA will ship Wednesday, November 21st for $199.99 with a two-year contract with Verizon Wireless.
