Drift HD Ghost Wearable Action Cam Ships with a Wearable Remote, WiFi and Waterproof Housing to 180-feet (video)
In addition to recording full HD video at 30fps, the Drift HD Ghost, the company’s newest wearable action camera, ships with a wrist mountable remote that is replete with LED indicator lights so you can see if you’re recording video, photos, photoburst, or in time-lapse modes. Alternatively, extreme athletes and directors can preview shots, review and download footage, change camera settings, and more directly on their smartphone thanks to built-in WiFi. Out of the box the Drift HD Ghost is waterproof up to 9-feet. Install the included deep water housing and it can be submerged to 180-feet.
In this iteration of the Drift HD they’ve updated the lens of the camera to include a 7-element lens. It’s hard to say how that will play into real world use without any testing, but Drift Innovation “guarantees the user high clarity, vibrantly colored” HD videos whether it be in 1080p or WVGA mode. Other features include a 1,700mAh battery the provides 3 hours of continuous shooting, an advanced mic to reduce wind noise (there is also a 3.5mm mic input), a 2-inch LCD screen covered in Gorilla Glass to prevent scratching, and a video tag/loop feature that records in a 5-minute loop until the user hits a button on the wrist worn remote or the camera itself.
There is no doubt that the Drift HD Ghost sounds like a complete package, even at $399. However, we can’t help but compare it to GoPro’s latest Hero3 camera, which offers 4k recordings.
Update: out of the box the Drift HD Ghost can be submerged up to 9-feet. To go deeper you’ll need to purchase the optional waterproof housing.
