Gamers and shoppers! Lend me your ears. I implore you all. Do not take your rodents for granted. A good reliable, comfortable mouse is a gamer’s “right-hand”. Yes even when they’re left handed. (Now shush! ‘m trying to make a point). Pro gamers live and die by the performance, sensitivity and comfort of their vermin of choice. So if you’re thinking of making one a holiday gift. Here’s a short easy list of gaming mice, to rely upon. Any one of these mice are sure to satisfy the most scrutinizing and demanding “fragger”. These are of finest, all work for multi-surface types, grip styles and game genres (MMO, RTS, FPS).

Steel Series Sensei Pro Grade Laser Mouse

Who are you shopping for? Sure they play PC games, hence your attention here. But the recipient of your giving nature, do they dabble in gaming or do they thrive on it? If their behavior leans toward the latter than you should think carefully about the SteelSeries Sensei Pro Grade laser gaming mouse.

This $ub-100 Sensei wields a 32bit ARM Processor onboard,  which kills the need for software updates and driver manipulation. The 75Mhz processor handles all the high speed complex calculations and is ready to go right out of the box. This is paired with one the most accurate laser sensors I have ever used, the Avago 9500. Settings for DPI/CPi can reach 5700 or doubled (reaching as high as 11,400) using the Sensei ‘s featured-packed array of onboard software to customize settings and lift distance variables in countless ways. Manage it all on the Sensei’s “on-mouse LCD Menu” screen. Several profile options can be configured.

I lament over the Pro Grade Sensei like a Samurai or acclaimed chef might for his blade of choice. In the hands of an experienced “mouse and keyboard” gamer, the Sensei is deadly.  It’s unassuming in appearance and lacking in unique style. But this is more than compensated in the breadth of customization options, options–maximized by the universal ambidextrous styling. This is an incredibly malleable scalpel in the hands of the right gaming surgeon.

Thermaltake Level 10 Designed by BMW Motors

The BMW designed Level 10 laser gaming mouse from Thermaltake is the scholar’s elegant straight sword to the Sensei surgical euphemistic. It commands respect. It’s beyond aware of the stares and glares. It bathes in them–soaking up the slack-jawed drool of the amazed like honeyed milk.

The Level 10 gaming mouse has no aesthetic peer. It’s styling and shape are all its own and provide great ventilation to stave off perspiration. The aluminum base is strong and sturdy. But  time is needed to find the right grip for lasting comfort. It’s possible for sure, but exotic build is just that. Still,  the buttons, are some of the most responsive with an unique and pleasant “click”. The laser sensor is very precise, lift distance is good and the drivers and software are easy to manage, with no hassles.

The Level 10 borrows a trick from the MadCatz R.A.T. line of mice and offer an Allen wrench style tool that allows for the back, where the palm rests, to be raised and lowered. It can also adjust the same portion of mouse to lean more left or right depending on your comfort. To tweak sensitivity options (8200 max dpi), polling rate and such, does require a software install. But it’s painless enough. Plus the unit comes in a variety of color options. Priced just under 100 bucks the Thermaltake Level 10 laser gaming mouse makes a prestigious gift in a powerful gaming mouse.
