A face plant is never fun, unless of course you can replay the experience over and over again. Go Pro’s line of HD rugged cameras have long been the go to choice for extreme athletes, but those are bulky and easy to lose if you take a serious dinger.
For those of you hitting the slopes this winner, and with a penchant for tom foolery, you’ll surely want the iON HD Camera Goggles from Zeal Optics. If you recall, these are the same guys that partnered with Recon Instruments to produce the Transcend GPS Ski Goggles. Unfortunately, this version won’t help you get unlost, but it will most certainly extend your memories beyond the slopes.
Built-in to the Ion HD Goggles is a camera capable of capturing full HD video and 8-megapixel photos via a 170-degree lens. Inside the Goggles is a digital viewfinder so you can see your handy work and make sure you’re framing your stunt correctly. The camera itself features auto light adjustment and infinity focus so that the slopes are always in view. To stop and start the action, amongst other controls, are a set of glove friendly buttons found on the side of the Zeal Optics HD Camera Goggles. Finally, a fully rechargeable battery should provide about 3 hours of recordings, though we’re not sure on the storage capacity, though we assume its expandable via microSD card slot.
The Googles themselves are no slouch either. They include impact resistant frames, 100% UV protection, an anti-fog infused lens process, Optimum lenses, and dual strap adjustments.
You can purchase the Zeal Optics Ion HD Camera Goggles direct for $399.
