People will go to all sorts of great lengths to have the best costume on the block. And there is no doubt in our minds that Jason Smith is one of those people.
He constructured this “Aliens” inspired costume called the Power Loader. Sigourney Weaver uses the exoskeleton like machine to fight off the mother Alien towards the end of the film, that is assuming if memory serves correct. The battle isn’t exactly epic, but it’s one that has gone down in movie making history, largely due to the cult popularity of the film.
In Jason Smith’s version of the Power Loader, he is the actual machine, where as his baby is, well, Sigourney Weaver. Watch the above video and you’ll pick up what we’re laying down. Nevertheless, the costume is pretty genius, even though it’s largely just made of cardboard adorned with the appropriate lighting. It took Smith 2 days to build the rig.
