Evo’s Editorial Director Harry Metcalfe gets inside of a Porsche 918 Spyder with Walter Rohrl for a test drive of the new Porsche. The all-new super car will arrive late next year and is the most complex model that Porsche has ever designed. The hybrid gas-electric supercar boasts a race-ready 4.6-liter V8 supplemented by two electric motors drawing power from a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack. Looking like something out of a sci-fi movie, the vehicle actually boots up like a computer yet glides combustion-free before its fuel-fed engine blasts in excess of 200 mph. The technology, from drivetrain, to chassis, to aerodynamics, and especially its power delivery system, will also find its way into future Porsche products.
