The Nimbus Cloud Dome Kit sells for $149 and works with any lights, even ample ambient lighting, because the translucent white plastic serves to soften and evenly diffuse what’s available.
You can use it with any smartphone via its elastic strap system that holds it in place no matter its shape, and an included base lets you backlight your subject. The focal distance is around 4.5 inches, and the iPhone, Droid and Galaxy Note work exceptionally well with this kit. But the kit is only good for when you’re photographing small objects. And also remember that because of the lack of manual controls on most smartphone cameras, you’ll still probably need to do some magic in a photo editing app afterward to really make the picture pop!
