Tablets, and smartphones are formidable devices that can accomplish a bevy of tasks without the need of a computer. Try to hammer out a long email on either one, though, and you’ll be tempting the carpel tunnel Gods. Which means you’ll have to wear one of those horribly ugly wrist guards, and nobody wants that.
Microsoft’s Surface includes a cover that has a built-in keyboard. It’s an exceptionally cool answer to the on-screen keyboard dilemma. However, it will have a hard time standing up to the brawn of Logitech’s K810 Bluetooth Keyboard. Logitech has yet to disclose its measurements, but it would seem that it’s svelte, if not ultra light weight. And in a surprising twist, this Bluetooth keyboard, which can pair with up to three devices simultaneously, is backlight. When the light grows dim it will automatically illuminate, and to save on battery life there is a hand proximity sensor to detect when your digits draw close, turning the backlight on or off accordingly. Even though the Logitech K810 keyboard is targeted directly at soon to be Windows 8 owners thanks to a set of OS specific keys, it will work with iOS and Android. Battery life is said to last from 10 days to one year, with the latter clearly being a standby time, though you’ll be able to squeeze more juice out of it if you manually manipulate the backlight, as well as turn it off when you’re done emailing your Mom.
The Logitech K810 Bluetooth Keyboard is available for preorder now for $100. Shipping should commence very soon.
