How big is an 84-inch TV?  Glue 42-inch TVs together and you’ll find out.  Or you could just buy this 84-inch behmoth, the 84LM9600 Ultra HD LED TV from LG.   Needless to say, it’s a massive set, and boasts a whopping 4x full HD resolution (3840 x 2160p), otherwise known as 4k.

Honestly, we’re not sure 4k will every take off, at least not any time soon or with this technology, local dimming LED.  But there is no disputing the sheer magnitude of a set of this nature.  All commercially available content is only available in full HD, unless you can get your hands on movie theater quality films.  Or perhaps you have a have big plans for that GoPro Hero3, which shoots in 4k/24p.

Resolution concerns aside, this set should look jaw dropping in person, (almost) regardless of what content you pump through it.  And while most will probably bring their own sound system to the party, LG has packed the 84-inch 84LM9600 with a 50w, 2.2, 10-channel sound system that is said to be good enough to compliment the TV’s 3D capabilities.  Included are 6 pairs of 3D glass, but in order to experience the two in one screen magic – ideal for split player games – you’ll need to invest in a pair (or two) of special glasses to accomplish this feat (we’re not sure how this will work with your Xbox, etc).  And as you’d expect the LG 84-inch 4K TV includes built-in WiFi, access to LG’s app store, and a whole host of apps for accessing your favorite streaming content.  LG will also include their Magic Motion remote

We’ll have a hands on with the LG 84-inch 4K TV posted very soon.  At this point we don’t know an official ship date, but we do know it will retail for a wallet bursting $20,000.
