The “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (affectionately known as TMNT) hardly sounded like a marketing gold mine, but that’s exactly what it was…over 15 years ago.  Back then they had their own video game, movie, and probably a variety of other useless, yet iconic crap.  Nevertheless, the brand eventually wore out its welcome and was soon relegated to the proverbial backseat in favor of shows such as the “Power Rangers”.

Now, the brand is about to make a come back, albeit a small one, literally.  LEGO this past week announced that they’ve got plans for an officially licensed LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle set.  In addition to the Shellraiser Street Chase set, they’ve got a complete set of minifigs that includes Leonardo, Donatelo, Michaelangelo, Ralphael, Splinter, Shredder, and a few of the mainstream, yet ancillary bad guys.

The set and minifigs are expected to go on sale in January of next year.  Sorry, no word on a price.
