Unfortunately, we won’t see the LIFX iPhone controllable light bulbs hit the open market until sometime next year. Sad, we know, as we’d like to entertain guests this holiday with our ability to wirelessly influence their color, brightness, and more just using our iPhone. But if you happen to reside in Europe, you can begin to enjoy such luxuries right away, albeit on a much more limited scale.
GreenWave Reality’s Connected Lighting Solution combine energy star certified LED bulbs with your home’s wireless network, allowing you to control your abode’s lights with the touch of a smartphone (or tablet). Unlike like LIFX version, you won’t be able to change the color, but you probably can influence their brightness, and we know for sure that they can be set up on timers as well as pair them with a few macro settings for one touch controls. They’re also fully compatible with GreenWave Reality’s Smart Home Platform, which let’s consumers monitor and control their appliances and heating/cooling systems in the home. It also looks like there is a separate handheld remote, as well as proximity or motion sensors so lights can turn on and off as you enter or exit rooms.
Sorry, no word on a price. Expect them to come to the US just as soon as someone licenses the tech, which is neither here nor there at this point.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
