Gameloft Duo Gamer iPad Controller Promises Arcade Like Gaming on the Go
There are a myriad of aftermarket game controllers for all of the iOS devices. The iCade caters to the iPad crowd, but it’s hardly a portable option. Alternatively there is the 8-Bitty, which surely fills that void. And for Android users you can use the Game Klip in tandem with a PS3 controller to achieve true video game bliss.
Jumping in on that action is Gameloft (who partnered with accessories maker Discovery Bay Games), who produces a wide variety of games for a number of devices. Unlike the 8-Bitty, the Duo Gamer includes two analog sticks in addition to the traditional gaming buttons we’ve all come to know and love. The dock is of the 30-pin ilk, which connects wirelessly (via Bluetooth) to the controller. That said, if you want to use it with your iPhone 5 you’ll need an adapter, and needless to say the next iPad (probably the iPad mini), will ship with the Lightning connector. So you might want to think twice before you throw down for this gaming device, since it is anything but future proof.
Word on the street is that it costs $80. It’s said to be compatible with up to 10 games, including Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD, Brothers In Arms 2: Global Front Free, Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, NOVA 3, and Order & Chaos.
