Delta Six Videogame Gun Changes Shape with the Game, Offers More Realism (video)
Most FPS gaming guns are an after thought. And even then they’re more a plastic container than gun, at least that has long been the case in Sony and the Wii.
The Delta Six controller, from the same folks that brought you the Avenger controller, is really nothing like anything we’ve seen before. They’ve haven’t said what platform is has been built for, but based on the pics we’re assuming the Xbox 360. A set of on-board accelerometers detects your movement, while built-in motors provide recoil feedback. Furthering the realism is a real reloadable magazine clip. So once your weapon runs dry on bullets you’ll need to actually replace the cartridge if you want to continue knocking down foes. Meanwhile, a set of sensors can detect when you press your face up to the gun, which in turn brings up the onscreen scope, provided the sniper option exists. Extending the barrel stock turns the Delta Six into a sniper rifle, while shortening it and collapsing the butt of the gun will transform it into a sub machine gun. Of course the game in play will probably influence how effective these options are, and there really is no way to tell how they’ve address compatibility with game of now or in the future.
Right now there is no word on an actual launch date, but you can expect it to retail for $89 when it does.
